Ferrer wins Wimbledon warm-up

Spain's David Ferrer secured his fourth title of the year with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Germany's Philipp Petzschner at the 's-Hertogenbosch grass court tournament on Saturday.

Victory improved the Spaniard's record to 15-15 in finals and earned him his second title at the event, having also triumphed at the same venue in 2008.

Following a successful clay-court season that included wins in Acapulco and Buenos Aires, reaching the final in Barcelona and a semi-final appearance at Roland Garros, Ferrer demonstrated few problems adapting to the quicker surface.

Top-seed Ferrer dropped just one set on the way to the title and benefitted from a favourable draw that saw him face no player ranked higher than 60 - France's Benoit Paire - in the world rankings. Ferrer now leads all players on the men's circuit with 43 tour-level victories this season.

The 30-year-old will face another German in Dustin Brown in the first round at Wimbledon next week, a tournament where he has never advanced beyond the last 16 in nine attempts.

On the women's side, Russia's Nadia Petrova downed Poland's Urszula Radwanska, the younger sister of world number three Agnieszka, 6-4, 6-3 to claim her 11th WTA title.

Teamed with compatriot Maria Kirilenko, Petrova will also play for the doubles' crown against Italian duo Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.
