Clijsters vows to play through injury

Former world number one Kim Clijsters was backed to go "full force" at Wimbledon despite having to pull out of the s-Hertogenbosch grass court tournament with a stomach injury.

Clijsters, who will quit tennis after the US Open, handed Poland's Urszula Radwanska a walkover into the final of the Dutch event, but her coaching team insisted the Belgian will be fit to play Wimbledon which starts on Monday.

"I think she can go at full force (at Wimbledon)," said fitness trainer Sam Verslegers who explained Clijsters had felt the injury in her quarter-final win over Francesca Schiavone.

"It's purely an overload. Some days of rest will encourage perhaps even full recovery."

Clijsters had been making her return this week after not playing since March because of a right hip injury.

The 28-year-old was champion in this pre-Wimbledon event in 2003.

Clijsters, a four-time Grand Slam title winner, had been drawn earlier Friday to begin her Wimbledon campaign against fellow former world number one Jelena Jankovic of Serbia.
